About Tara

Tara received her training and certification as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.

During her training, she studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

The programs instructors included: Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

Her education has equipped her with extensive knowledge in general nutrition, holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and her knowledge of different dietary theories, she works with her clients to help them create lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results that fit naturally into real life!

Tara’s passion for coaching has grown directly from her commitment to her own health, and a never-ending curiosity in how nutrition affects our overall wellbeing and happiness.

When it comes to exercise and training programs, Tara’s athletic background covers several different areas. She’s an avid runner with a variety of marathons, ultra-marathons, and shorter events under her belt. She’s competed as a figure athlete, and has studied and executed several different types of in-depth strength-training programs.

When Tara is not in the kitchen, she can be found out on the trail either hiking or running with dogs and her son. After that trail run is done, you’ll usually find Tara advocating for animal rights, fostering dogs in need of a new home, and spreading awareness on the treatment of animals in today’s society. And of course, reading bedtime stories!

Diabetes Coaching

Tara has a special passion for coaching people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes that evolved from supporting and caring for several close friends and family members affected by either type. In life with diabetes, it can be very overwhelming to figure out what the “right diet” is because of the constant pressure to eliminate all carbohydrates or fill your refrigerator with “diet” foods. Tara’s approach to nutrition for people with diabetes begins with learning the values of clean eating and whole foods. From there, she will support the nutritional goals each client comes with. If you’re eager to learn how to adopt a balanced low-carb diet into your life, Tara will coach you in support of that goal. Others might be interested in learning how to adopt a plant-based diet into life with diabetes!

“This is the book for anyone with type 1 diabetes. When you leave the hospital with insulin doses set-up by your doctor, that doesn’t necessarily mean those doses won’t need fine-tuning, and you can bet they’ll change throughout different parts of your life (aging, stress, weight changes, diet changes, activity level, etc.). Gary is the go-to guru diabetes educator for type 1 diabetes, and he’s lived with type 1 diabetes for about 30 years himself.”

Type 2 Diabetes: an Essential Guide for Newly Diagnosed by Gretchen Becker

“Type 2 diabetes is far more complicated than reducing the sugar in your diet…and Gretchen Becker does an amazing job in this guide at breaking down the many aspects of this disease, treatment options, nutrition, etc. In addition to a background in medical journalism, Becker lives with type 2 diabetes herself, so she knows firsthand how overwhelming it can all be.”
